Every ceramic crackle tile product that Decorative Materials carries is given a temporary sealer at the factory before being shipped. Even so, careful attention must be given to the sealing process when installing crackle ceramic tile. This is very important!

We advise that sealing ceramic crackle tile with a penetrating sealer is mandatory before and after grouting.

The sealer penetrates the fine, hairline fissures in the glaze to prevent dirt and dust from darkening the crackle over a period of time. This also makes it easier to clean and maintain.

Sealing with a penetrating sealer BEFORE and AFTER grouting is mandatory. And, we do not recommend the use of contrasting color grouts with this type of glaze.
